THOMSTON COLLARBONES

It's fair to say that Thomston's latest cut, 'Collarbones', isn't the most immediately rewarding composition in his growing catalogue of smart RnB jams, but it does show a side to him not often revealed; the brooding, soft-hearted shoulder-to-cry-on. The track, a taster of his forthcoming Backbone EP is all about a close friend who went through a rough patch last year. "After all this time I'm starting to see you/Convince me that you're fine," he sighs over weepy synths and rumbling percussion. "It's about wanting to live in a state of blissful ignorance," the New Zealander told FADER last week. "She's okay now, though." Phew. Here's to hearing more of these sensitively melting paeans soon. - DC
